Van Male Field House, built in 1965, features an extensive, multi-million dollar renovation, completed in summer 2015. The improved facility includes newly-configured locker rooms, showers, restroom facilities, staff offices, storage spaces, laundry services, an enhanced, accessible entrance on Barstow Street, and new classroom and athletic training spaces.
The modernized look and state-of-the-art upgrades better serve the entire Carroll community, and are an extension of Carroll's commitment to wellness, fitness, intercollegiate athletics, student recreation and intramurals, and the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
Notable interior design features include displays featuring current student-athletes and highlighting Carroll's 22 NCAA sports, and a digital hall of fame that recognizes alumni athletes and pays tribute to Carroll's rich athletic heritage.
The project was an essential component of Campaign Carroll: The Common Thread, the largest comprehensive capital campaign in Carroll's history. Athletics and fitness have always been an important part of the Carroll Experience, and an outlet for the university to offer students an opportunity to compete, grow, exercise and mature into Pioneers.
