Carroll University has a long history of providing strong preparation for students interested in pursuing careers in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences. The foundation of this coursework lies in the fields of chemistry and biology. Carroll offers the courses you will need to gain admission to essentially any school of pharmacy in the country. Students generally complete this coursework in either three or four years at Carroll and then matriculate to a school of pharmacy to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
Additionally, Carroll University is able to offer students a unique advantage in gaining admission to one of the premier pharmacy programs in the country. Carroll University has established an articulation agreement with Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFUMS) in North Chicago. This agreement gives Carroll students in the pre-pharmacy program priority status for consideration of admission to the RFUMS Doctor of Pharmacy degree program. Carroll University is one of a small number of select schools with whom RFUMS has developed such an agreement. This provides a significant advantage in obtaining admission to this premier pharmacy program for up to 20 Carroll students per year. Additionally, Carroll students and faculty will make regular visits to RFUMS for tours, seminars and opportunities for students to meet with RFUMS faculty. Information about the RFUMS Doctor of Pharmacy program and their accreditation status are located at: http://rosalindfranklin.edu/cop/Home.aspx
Students in the program will complete three years of coursework at Carroll prior to transferring to RFUMS. Courses in the first year at RFUMS will be transferred back to Carroll. Students will then receive a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from Carroll University. Students will obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from RFUMS after successfully completing four years of coursework there. Alternately, a student may choose to stay at Carroll for four years and complete the biochemistry major before seeking admission to RFUMS.
Admission to the Pre-Pharmacy Program at Carroll University does not guarantee admission to the RFUMS Pharmacy program. Students must complete all the admission material and processes at RFUMS.
