Spring Awakening
Nov. 23, 2013

WAUKESHA, WIS.— “Spring Awakening,” a rock musical with book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik, will be presented on the Otteson Theatre stage at Carroll University, 238 N. East. Ave., Waukesha. The Carroll Players performances are Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Based on the play “Spring’s Awakening” by Frank Wedekind, it tells the story of a group of late 19th century German students’ electrifying journey through the years of teenage self-discovery and coming-of-age anxiety. This daring, angst-filled musical is a powerful celebration of youth and rebellion. It has won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Due to sexual content and adult language, this show is not appropriate for patrons younger than age 16. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 alumni/parents/seniors, and free with a student ID. Contact the Carroll University box office at 262.524.7633 or tickets.carrollu.edu.

“Spring Awakening” is produced by a student team, including director Ryan Albrechtson, a sophomore theater major. Music direction is by senior elementary education major Tonya Palmer, set design by senior graphic communication major Taylor Burzynski, costume design by senior theater major Lyndsey Sippel, prop design by junior theater major Alexis Furseth, lighting design by freshman psychology and theater double major Courtney Manton, and sound design by senior English major Justin Schultz. Junior Katelynne Rosera, a graphic communication major, is the stage manager and the house is managed by sophomore Austin Harris, a philosophy, political science and economics major.

Musicians will include guitarist Tyler Affinito, a freshman, and bassist Joey Gappa, also a freshman. Guest artist Rhonda Kwiecien provides accompaniment.
