Carroll University Homecoming will be Oct. 7-9

WAUKESHA, WIS.— Carroll University will celebrate its Homecoming, Reunions and Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 7-9, 2011. The event will include activities for alumni and friends of the college, a football game and a parade. Friday activities include gatherings for reunion classes. Sunday will feature a worship service and Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony, both open to the public. Advance registration is required to attend the Hall of Fame ceremony.
The Saturday, Oct. 8, parade, which will begin at 1 p.m., will follow this route from lineup on Martin and South streets: south on Barstow Street from South Street, east on Wisconsin Avenue, south on East Avenue, west on College Avenue and north on Barstow Street. The parade will end at Barstow and Cook streets, just north of Carroll's Schneider Stadium.
Barstow Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. from just south of Schneider Stadium to just south of Cook Street.
The Pioneers football team will take on the Vikings of Lawrence University at 3 p.m. at Schneider Stadium. Tickets at the gate are $6 adults, and $4 seniors and children 12 and younger.
Other Homecoming activities include:
- An art exhibit featuring mixed media work by two recent alumni, current and retired faculty, with a reception in the Humphrey Art Center from 10 a.m.-noon.
- A tailgate party in the parking lot on the east side of Barstow Street just south of the railroad tracks. The Love Monkeys, a local band, will perform there from noon-2:30 p.m. Face painting, children’s activities and games will be from noon-2 p.m. From noon-3 p.m., purchase sandwiches, snacks and beverages from Pioneer Pete's Pit Stop.
- An alumni choir concert and theater performance with guest appearances by retired faculty members at 2 p.m. in Shattuck Music Center.
