Carroll University Receives a $63,600 Grant from Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation
For the second year, Carroll University has been awarded the Career Ready Internship grant in the amount of $63,600 from Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation. The grant will fund 35 paid internships for junior and senior students majoring in the humanities and social sciences. Student participants will work no more than 29 hours per week at partnering organizations and businesses during the 2014-2015 school year, and be paid $10 per hour. Last year was the inaugural year of the Great Lakes’ Career Ready Internship Grant and Carroll University was one of 19 recipients. Students were placed in paid internships at nonprofit and for-profit businesses, including, the Milwaukee County Department of Economic Development, Dagan Books, GPS Education Partners, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, United Community Center, Shaw Law Office, Milwaukee Opera Theatre, Lakeshore Chinooks Baseball League, and many more locations.
