Milwaukee Opera Theatre returns to Carroll University
August 5, 2013
WAUKESHA, WIS.—The final event of the 2013 Summer Arts Series at Carroll University is a concert by Milwaukee Opera Theatre. “Opericity: Songs About Energy” will be at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013. This event is free and open to the public.
The outdoor performance will be at The Plaza between Shattuck Music Center, Todd Wehr Memorial Library, Otteson Theatre and Van Male Field House. If weather requires, the concert will be held in Otteson Theatre, 238 N. East Ave. Some seating will be provided, but guests are encouraged to bring blankets, picnic baskets and non-alcoholic beverages. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Carroll University Dining Services.
The electrifying concert will feature Kerry Bieneman, Melissa Cardamone, Adam Estes, Doug Clemons, Carroll senior Melissa Gall, senior Kali Marcino, Danny Polaski, a 2012 Carroll graduate, and Danny Slattery ’13. The motif aligns with Carroll’s campus-wide Energy theme of the 2012-2013 academic year. Selections include songs by Debussy, Schubert, Rossini, Mozart and Hoiby, along with a group of songs about the great city of New York, and excerpts from “West Side Story,” “Footloose” and “Songs for a New World,” among others.
Milwaukee Opera Theatre is dedicated to creating dynamic, singer-centered art; exploring the beauty of the human voice; sparking the imagination of both audiences and artists; and transforming the bountiful landscape of classic and contemporary lyric theater. The group performed “Songs about Water” during Carroll’s inaugural Summer Arts Series in 2012. For more information, visit www.milwaukeeoperatheatre.org.
