WAUKESHA, WIS.—Carroll University will hold a memorial candlelight vigil for Shanel Negron beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013. The event, which will be held in front of Main Hall, is open to the public.
Negron, 24, was shot to death early Monday evening at her home on Waukesha’s west side. The alleged perpetrator remains at large.
Known at Carroll by her nickname, Nani, Negron worked for Chartwells, Carroll’s contracted food service provider.
Participants in Monday’s service are encouraged to wear red, one of Negron’s favorite colors. The vigil will include music, a time for silent reflection, and an open mic opportunity for speakers. Memorial gifts are welcome in the form of checks made out to Carroll University. All donations will be forwarded to the family to help support Negron’s daughter, Jazzy, age 3.
