April 5, 2013
WAUKESHA, WIS.— The Carroll University Vocal Collective will present an intimate concert at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013, in the Humphrey Memorial Chapel, 238 N. East Ave., Waukesha. This special event also will feature the Jazz Ensemble of the Milwaukee High School of the Arts, a local chamber ensemble called “H,” and the Rose Ensemble, a professional group based in Saint Paul, Minn.
The concert is free and open to the public, but seating is extremely limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The performance material will be widely varied, including sacred Renaissance motets, an Elizabethan part-song, a barbershop quartet, arranged vocal jazz, arranged pop and contemporary classical. To conclude, all performers will sing Elliot Z. Levine’s setting of e. e. cummings’ poem “i thank You God.”
The Rose Ensemble is in residence with Early Music Now, Milwaukee’s presenter of Medieval, Renaissance and early-Baroque programming. Funding for the project is provided by Early Music Now with assistance from Arts Midwest, Wisconsin Arts Board, National Endowment for the Arts, Greater Milwaukee Foundation and Helen Bader Foundation.
