WAUKESHA, WIS.— A special outdoor concert by Milwaukee Opera Theatre will be performed at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at Carroll University. “Songs about Water” is the signature event of Carroll’s inaugural Summer Arts Series, which provides new opportunities to showcase community arts groups on campus. This event is free and open to the public.
The outdoor performance will be at The Plaza between Shattuck Music Center, Todd Wehr Memorial Library, Otteson Theatre and Van Male Field House. If weather requires, the concert will be held in Otteson Theatre, 238 N. East Ave. Seating is first-come, first-served. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Carroll University Dining Services; picnic carry-ins of food and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome.
“Songs about Water” will feature Melissa Kelly Cardamone, Kerry Hart Bieneman, Cameron Smith and Nathan Krueger, and is a nod to Carroll’s campus-wide Water theme during the 2011-2012 academic year. The program will include “At the River” by Aaron Copland, “The Lordly Hudson” by Ned Rorem, “Waterbird” by Richard Hundley, “Les berceaux” by Gabriel Faure, “Beau soir” by Claude Debussy, “Auf dem Wasser zu singen” by Franz Schubert, “Moon River” by Johnny Mercer, and Harold Arlen’s “Stormy Weather.”
