Wisconsin Artists Collection at Carroll expands

WAUKESHA, WIS.— The Wisconsin Artists Collection, on permanent display at Carroll University, has grown with the acquisition of 44 pieces during the 2011-2012 academic year. The collection includes works by more than 400 artists who were born in or worked for significant portions of their careers in Wisconsin. New art includes:

“Blue Oriental Bowls,” a mixed media construction by Peggy Thurston Farrell of Waukesha, donated by Joan and L.B. Hardy.

“Swanee River,” oil on Masonite by Willis Guthrie of Waukesha, donated by Dr. James D. Carr.

“Red Torso,” cast porcelain, a gift from the artist, Gary John Gresl of Milwaukee.

“No. 1984, No. 1985, No.1986, etc.,” a mixed media piece created and donated by Erik Grau, a 2008 Carroll graduate who lives in Boston, Ma.

“Needs,” color woodcut, a gift from the artist, Louise Krampien, a 2007 Carroll graduate who lives in Portland, Ore.

“Genova Italia,” a photograph by Philip Krejcarek of Dousman, Wis., donated by Lelan McLemore.

Gifts in memory of Lydia Rewis Runkel of Waukesha included nine of her paintings, 25 charcoal drawings and four woodcut prints.
