WAUKESHA, WIS.— Carroll University’s Blaze dance team will host Spirit of Hope 2012, a dance exhibition, on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012. The event begins at 2 p.m. in Van Male Field House, 227 N. Barstow St., Waukesha; east doors open at 1:40 p.m. Admission is $5 adults and $3 students. All proceeds benefit the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Showhouse.
The event was started by Heidi Zarder, former dance coach at Wisconsin Lutheran College. In 2009, she passed the torch to Julie Rapps at Carroll University. Carroll’s first Spirit of Hope exhibition was in 2010, with 150 attendees and $500 raised for breast cancer and prostate cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The goal for 2012 is to top that success.
Participating teams include the Milwaukee Brewers Diamond Dancers, Carroll University Blaze Dance Team and Carroll Cheerleaders, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panther Dance Team, Alverno College Inferno Dance Team, Hype Marquette Dance Team, Ripon College Red Hawk Dance Team, Wisconsin Lutheran College Power Surge Dance Team, and more.
