Wisconsin Poet Laureate interview on Lake Effect (audio)

WAUKESHA, WIS.— Bruce Dethlefsen, Wisconsin Poet Laureate, visited Carroll University for a reading of his recent works in November 2011. While he was in town, he visited the WUWM studio for an interview with Lake Effect coordinating producer Stephanie Lecci. That interview aired on Jan. 13, 2012, in anticipation of Dethlefsen’s reading at Milwaukee’s Woodland Pattern Book Center on Sunday, Jan. 15. To listen to the interview, click here.

Bruce Dethlefsen of Westfield, Wis., was appointed State Poet Laureate for 2011-2012 by former Governor Jim Doyle, based on the recommendation of the Wisconsin Poet Laureate Commission. In 2011, the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters became steward of the Wisconsin Poet Laureate Commission. Dethlefsen uses his position to promote the writing and sharing of poetry throughout Wisconsin. He encourages and supports local cultural and creative talent by organizing poetry readings in public libraries, schools and coffee houses throughout the state.
