Guest speaker will discuss creation and science

WAUKESHA, WIS.— The religious studies program at Carroll University will host Ron Numbers, Hilldale Professor of the History of Science and Medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011. Numbers will lecture on “Creation, Science, and the Bible in America” at 7 p.m. in the Oak Room, in the lower level of the Campus Center, 101 N. East Ave., Waukesha. This event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.

This talk will survey the changing views of Christians in America regarding scientific accounts of the origins of life in relation to the Biblical creation story. Beginning with a major shift in 1840, Numbers will trace developments through the 20th Century and to present day.

Numbers’ lecture is supported by the Alfred Badger Bible Fund. For more information, contact Jeffrey Fisher, assistant professor of religion and philosophy, at fisherj@carrollu.edu or 262.524.7292.
