Peace Vigil Workshop will be Nov. 5 at Carroll

WAUKESHA, WIS.— A Peace Vigil Workshop led by Dr. Anton M. Somlai will be held at Carroll University on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011. The event will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Oak Room of the Campus Center, 101 N. East Ave., Waukesha. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and refreshments will be served. The workshop is free and open to the public; donations of $5 will be accepted.

The Peace Vigil Workshop is sponsored by Carroll University and the Education Committee of the Plowshare Center of Waukesha. RSVP to Sally Michalko, the Plowshare board president, at smichalko@wi.rr.com.

Somlai, a Zen Buddhist master teacher and co-founder of the Original Root Zen Center in Racine, Wis., will lead the workshop based on the book "Peace Vigil: Living Without Hesitation." The first hour of the Peace Vigil Workshop is dedicated to exploring internal observations that lead to love and kindness. The second hour is dedicated to exploring external observations that relate to compassionate responses to the world. The workshop is interactive and focuses on everyday application of the basic peace principles. Somlai's teachings are based on the belief that participants can change the direction of their lives and the world in which we live.
