- You may order your cap and gown at Graduation Fair, Wednesday, March 6, 2013, or online from Herff Jones. Deadline is Wednesday, April 3.
- Monday, May 6, 2013, is the first day you can pick up your cap and gown in the Carroll Bookstore if you ordered before the April 3 deadline.
- Graduates are required to wear the traditional cap and gown for Baccalaureate and Commencement. Caps and gowns are theirs to keep.
- Caps and gowns are black. The tassel on the cap is black, except that graduates who have completed the Honors Program receive a gold tassel.
- The Commencement fee, which is part of the completion fee on the second semester bill, covers the cost of cap, gown and hood for undergraduates.
- Master- and doctoral-level graduate students must pay $75 and $85 respectively (plus tax) for cap, gown and hood. The design of the gown (especially the sleeves) differs from the gown worn by undergraduates. The color of the hood is based on the area of study (see below). Checks are payable to the Carroll Bookstore.
Hoods
- Hoods are presented only to the graduate degree students as part of the ceremony on stage. Those receiving undergraduate degrees pick up their hoods aling with their caps and gowns and wear them for the ceremonies.
- All undergraduates will receive an orange and white hood, signifying the university colors.
- Master- and doctoral-level graduates will receive a hood that also signifies their area of study:
- Master of Business Administration - drab
- Master of Education - powder blue
- Master of Physician Assistant Studies - green
- Master of Software Engineering - orange
- Doctor of Physical Therapy - sage green
