Dr. Keenan Participates in the Women's World Congress

Dr. Deirdre Keenan, Carroll University professor of English and chair of department of English and Modern Languages and Literatures, was a presenter at the Women's World Congress in Hyderabad, India. The theme was "Gender in a Changing World" and included hundreds of presentations over six days. Dr. Keenan, along with three other women, presented a workshop on the growing challenges in teaching feminism and women's studies in the United States and Canada. Her co-panelists were professors of History, Merry Wiesner-Hanks (UWM) and Darlene Abreu-Ferreira (U. of Winnipeg, Canada), and Professor of English, Gwynne Kennedy (English).   more

Carroll Ranked #41 in 'Best Colleges 2015' Guidebook

Today, U.S. News announced its annual rankings for nationwide colleges and universities in its "Best Colleges 2015" Guidebook via its website. Carroll University ranked #41 among universities in the Midwest region, which U.S. News defines as Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Ohio and Indiana. According to U.S. News, a "regional university" is one that provides a full range of undergraduate majors and master's programs, but few, if any, doctoral programs. Carroll University offers a clinical doctorate in physical therapy. Regional universities are ranked against their peer group in one of four regions (North, South, West and Midwest) because they tend to draw students most heavily from surrounding states.   more

Carroll Football Players to Wear Concussion Sensors

At the first Carroll University football home game of the season, September 13 at 1 p.m., 80 of Carroll University's student-athletes will wear sensors behind their ears to measure concussion and head impact exposure during football practices and games this season. This is the second year Carroll is involved in the $30 million research initiative with the Medical College of Wisconsin. The university is one of four division III institutions across the nation to participate in collecting data to develop best practices in sports medicine in the preventions, assessment and treatment of concussions.   more
