Carroll University Receives a $50,000 Gift

Carroll University has received a $50,000 gift from the Hearst Foundations. The gift will help fund scholarships for students in Carroll University's Academic Success Program in Nursing (ASPIN). In addition to scholarships, ASPIN provides academic support services to students from medically underserved areas in Milwaukee and Waukesha enrolled in Carroll's nursing program. According to the Health Resources and Services Administration in Wisconsin, there are currently 102 primary medical care health professional shortage areas, 68 medically underserved areas, and five medically underserved populations in the state. In the 2014 Annual NCLEX Pass Report from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services' Board of Nursing, Carroll's Bachelor of Science in Nursing program ranked No. 1 in the state. The data shows that 95 percent of the university's nursing graduates pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) the first time they take the test.   more
