Is there wireless in the library?
Yes! Wireless access is available in the library for currently registered Carroll students, faculty, and staff. If you have never before connected your laptop to the wireless network, please see ITS' set-up instructions.
Does the library really circulate iPads?
Yes we do! iPads circulate from the main circulation desk for 48 hours. They are reserve items, so they do accrue overdue fines of .50 per hour overdue. Library iPads are pre configured for the campus wifi, and come pre-loaded with educational apps. You can download your own apps by using your personal Apple ID (log in under Settings--Store.) When you return an iPad, we delete any personal data you may have left on it by restoring the software.
Can I access the library databases from home? If so, how?
To access a Carroll library database from home, you must be a currently enrolled student or Carroll employee, as you are required to log-in through our proxy server. Simply click on any library database hyperlink found on Databases A-Z or in our program Subject Guides. Type in your network user name (if your email address is firstname.lastname@example.org, your user name is mjones) and your network password (same password as your email address) and you will be granted access through our server.

I tried logging into my Library Record and I can't. What am I doing wrong?
The username and password for your library record is not the same one that you use for the library databases. For your library record, please use your first and last name and your Carroll ID number (six digits or less.) If you still have trouble, please contact Access Services Librarian Brittany Larson at 262-650-4887.
Do any of the computers at the library have Word, Excel, or Power Point? Can I work on a paper at the library?
Yes! The computers in the Information Commons and the Classroom have Microsoft Office with Word, Excel and Power Point. When a class is not in session, patrons are welcome to use the Classroom as an open lab for writing papers, conducting research or working on academic projects. Students can check out a library laptop with their Carroll University ID from the Information Assistant for in-classroom use only. You will need your network username and password to log onto a library laptop.
I am having trouble accessing the library databases from home/work. What should I do?
If you are having problems with the databases please call the Information Commons desk at (262) 650-4886 or e-mail the Electronic Resources Librarian, Nancy Bennett. If you have forgotten your Carroll password and you have enrolled in the Self-Service Password Reset System, you can reset your password using the following link: http://pwreset.carrollu.edu. If you have not enrolled in our Self-Service Password Reset System, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 262-524-7229 for username and/or password assistance.
Pay attention to the information bar for blocked pop-ups or plug-in notices- often .PDF documents will fail to open because of a pop-up blocker on your browser. The University is currently using Adobe Reader 9.0 for viewing PDFs. If you need this software, please visit http://www.adobe.com.
