Audio/Visual Media Collection (1920s-2011):
This collection contains a variety of visual media: reel to reel tapes, Beta, VHS, and DVD. The media contain everything from commencement & baccalaureate to campus speakers to alumni events to commercials.
Betty Williams/Mother Goose Collection (1943-1995):
Betty Williams, a Carroll College graduate (class of 62') was a teacher and Waukesha community icon. She built a personal collection of Mother Goose books and memorabilia, which she shared with the community by dressing up in her Mother Goose dress and reading to children at area schools. In 2002, Betty Williams donated her collection to the Carroll University Library. This collection is made up of books, articles of Mother Goose, articles and pictures of Betty Williams, specialty cards and stickers, thank you letters, stories, activity books, books, records, calendars and various collectables such as geese plush toys, music boxes, ornaments, puzzles, gift wrap, and more.
Buildings Collection (1900-present):
This collection contains information about the buildings on Carroll's campus. This includes blueprints/architectural plans (restricted), correspondence about building purchases, remodeling, and construction, as well as newspaper articles documenting various buildings.
Biographical Collection (1844-present):
This collection is primarily comprised of files and news releases from Public Relations. Also included are copies of newspaper clippings and other compiled material about Carroll faculty, staff, alums, and trustees.
Ephemera Collection (1883-present):
This is a collection of various Carroll memorabilia. Includes buttons/pins, fabric items, hats, shirts, china, silver, etc.
Governance Collection (1844-present):
This collection includes meeting minutes, notes, records, and reports for various professional and non-professional committees and councils of Carroll College and Carroll University. Various governance committees are represented, includes Board meeting minutes. Some material contains student information and is restricted.
Photo Collection (1850-present):
This collection consists of photos, slides, and negatives of people, places, and events having to do with Carroll College and Carroll University. This collection is also in the process of being digitized and can be viewed through our Digital Collections page.
Scrapbook & Photo Album Collection (1902-2006):
The Carroll University Scrapbook Collection contains the scrapbooks and photo albums compiled by various Carroll alumni, faculty, and staff. Each contains pictures, newspaper clippings, and paraphernalia from Carroll’s History. Most have been donated by relatives and are now housed in the Carroll University Archives.
Student Organizations Collection (1854-Present):
The Philomathean Society, founded in 1856, was the first student organization at Carroll. The importance of student organizations to student life has only grown over the decades with dozens of groups in existence today. This collection contains the meeting minutes, scrapbooks, and documents of many groups that have come and gone at Carroll and helped define its history.
Student Publications and Writing (1854-present):
Encompasses all student publications including The Carroll College Student (1854-1856), The Carroll Echo (1874-1968), The Perspective (1968-1976), The New Perspective (1976-2011), The Philomathæan Magazine (1856-1857), The Carroll Magazine (1857), alternative newspapers, and magazines. The collection also includes student writing and class notes. Many of the student newspapers have been digitized and are text-searchable: Student Newspaper Digital Collection.
