About the collection:

The Carroll University Scrapbook Collection contains the scrapbooks and photo albums compiled by various Carroll alumni, faculty, and staff.  Each contains pictures, newspaper clippings, and paraphernalia from Carroll’s History.  Most have been donated by relatives and are now housed in the Carroll University Archives.

Frank James (class of 1910); Scrapbook 1 of 3 (1904-1907): contains pictures of students at Carroll as well as pictures of many track and field events, sports teams, and the glee club.  Handwritten excerpts of songs and poems.  All pictures are captioned with full names. 1
Frank James (class of 1910); Scrapbook 2 of 3 (1907-1909): contains pictures of students at Carroll, athletic pictures of track and field events, the glee club and Beta Pi Epsilon events.  All pictures are captioned with names; of note are pictures of President Rankin and his family. 1
Frank James (class of 1910); Scrapbook 3 of 3 (1909-1910): contains pictures of Carroll students at Mirror Lake and Crystal River (referred to as “camp”) and engaged in other leisure activities, pictures of glee club, Beta Pi Epsilon, and athletic teams. 1
Richard Glyer (class of 1905); Scrapbook (1902-1905): contains newspaper clippings from the Carroll Echo and other local newspapers, photos and tickets from theater productions and athletic events.  1
Margaret E. Clark; Scrapbook (1911-1913, 1950s): contains photos of Margaret at Carroll from her days as a student and on return trips, newspaper clippings, official documents such has her registration cards, report cards, election ballots, and matriculation card, and invitations to and programs from events during and after her time at Carroll including banquets, dances, commencements and graduations.  (note: some items have been removed and are in other collects) 2
Elizabeth “Betty” Otteson (class of 1931); Scrapbook (1924-1926): contains programs and dance books for campus events, newspaper clippings, letters and correspondence. (note: removed for restoration) 3
Walter Weber; Scrapbook (1927): contains original poetry and music, a quarantine sign from a 1929 outbreak of scarlet fever, Newspaper clippings about the glee club “Troubadors”, Glee club programs and posters from their tour, programs from various musical performances and recitals.  Ends with a series of newspaper clippings regarding the death of Francis James Campion. 4
Elizabeth “Betty” Otteson (class of 1931); Scrapbook (1922-1930): contains photographs of her adolescence, family pictures, and programs and dance books from Carroll events. 5
Elizabeth “Betty” Otteson (class of 1931); Photo album (1930s): contains photographs of Betty’s graduation, family, pets, and travels in the 1930s.  Photos include national parks such as Yellowstone and Needles, the Bad Lands. Also New York City, Washington D.C., and Annapolis, Maryland. 5
Jean “Teach” Kilgour; Scrapbook 1 of 2 (19?): certificates from the American Red Cross and her Golden Jubilee, Newspaper clippings about the dedication of Kilgour Hall, programs and invitations to the events, letters of congratulations from students and colleagues. 5

Nina Bell Smith Hall (class of 1908); Scrapbook (1905-1908): contains small clippings from various newspapers and magazines of words and pictures, photographs of Carroll students, place cards from banquets, tickets to concerts and baseball games, Carroll Postcards,  information from the Student Volunteer Movement conference. 6
Arthur A. Archbold (class of 1911); Scrapbook (1908-1911): contains newspaper clippings about the glee club and football, programs and tickets for festivals, concerts, athletic events and glee club. 7
Bernice Champeny (class of 1914); Scrapbook (1910-1914): contains tickets and programs for musical concerts, plays, and sporting events.  Dance books and place cards from campus events, photographs of Carroll students, some labeled.  Ten (10) pages of autographs and personal comments in the front, all from students Bernice meet during her four years at Carroll. 8
Elizabeth “Betty” Otteson (class of 1931); Scrapbook (1940): contains a record of her trip to the East Coast and Canada, contains maps, postcards, photographs, brochures from restaurants and hotels, newspaper clippings, handwritten observations about different places and distance travelled. 9
Earl A. Lockman (class of 1915); Scrapbook (1911-1915): contains tickets and brochures from sporting events, lectures, and recitals.  Travel logs and itineraries for two different tours by the Wesley Male Quartet (of Carroll), photographs of students, sports teams, and buildings of Carroll (several of an unknown building burning) Menus for Bostwicks and The Candy Shop, schedules from Glee Club trips and concerts, postcards from Michigan, Wisconsin, and Indiana; correspondence (letters and telegraphs) multiple church service programs; posters, pamphlets, and tickets from Weatherwax Brothers concerts. Several pages in the front contain the names of classmates. 10
Joseph E. Fisher , Scrapbook (1916-1917): Contains photographs of Fishers family and work life, some photos of Carroll Campus, some programs of Carroll events, newspaper clippings about Carroll sports (mostly football) several pages in the front containing the names of classmates. 10
Vincent P. Batha, Scrapbook 1 of 2 (1918): Contains ephemera of the Sigma Alpha Pi fraternity, correspondence and calling cards, woman’s handkerchief, newspaper clippings about football and the glee club, pictures of soldiers and sports teams. 11
Vincent P. Batha, Scrapbook 2 of 2 (1933-1934): Contains newspaper clippings about the basketball team during Batha’s time as coach.  Tickets, brochures, team photographs.  Also a few photographs of Batha’s time as a football player. 11
Shirley Hilger; Photo album (1922-1930s): Contains her birth announcement and photographs of her babyhood and early childhood. 12
Shirley Hilger; scrapbook (1940s): contains brochures, magazines, and programs for Carroll and its events, correspondence and calling cards from friends and the Theta P. Delta Sorority, song lyrics and some original poetry from sorority girls. 12
Robert D. Steele (president 1956-1967); Scrapbook (1930): contains many clippings from newspapers and other publications, generally regarding religion or theology, quotes and observations about various subjects like the roles of women, complete lectures by various religious figures.  13
Frank Falcone (president 1993-2006); Scrapbook (2006): made for him on the event of his retirement.  Contains clippings from newspapers and magazines about his time at Carroll, photographs and programs of events in his honor, letters of congratulations from friends and colleagues. 13
