The Office of International Education (OIE) partners with students, faculty, staff and the broader community to create a vibrant campus environment in which international perspectives and multicultural understanding are actively integrated into curricular and co-curricular life. Using the institution's four pillars as a platform, the office provides campus members with opportunities to expand their international awareness, to explore their relationships to the world, and to become responsible global citizens. The means of accomplishing the office mission include:
- Working with faculty and administration to support their international efforts in and out of the classroom
- Creating campus-wide co-curricular opportunities for cross-cultural interaction and learning
- Establishing and maintaining linkages and partnerships with overseas institutions
- Recruiting quality undergraduate and graduate international students
- Providing individual advising, pre-departure orientation and re-entry assistance for study abroad participants
- Providing orientation, adjustment assistance, advising and advocacy for students from other countries
Programs and Services within the Office of International Education
International Student Recruitment and Admission Counseling
The admission process for all international applicants is facilitated through the Office of International Education. This includes application evaluation, academic pre-advisement, registration and legal matters. International graduate students also work with a graduate admission counselor throughout the admission process.
All new international students at Carroll University participate in an orientation program prior to the start of classes. This program provides an introduction to the programs and services of the university, as well as to the American culture and educational system.
The Office of International Education provides academic advising for all international exchange students. All degree-seeking students receive academic advisement from a faculty advisor in their chosen department.
Immigration and Visa Advising
Passport renewals, visa concerns, non-resident alien immigration forms, taxes and regulations pertaining to international students in the US can be overwhelming. Your questions regarding F-1 student status and immigration forms can be addressed in the Office of International Education.
Social and Cultural Information
Many international students face situations which are new and different from what they are used to in the home culture. The Office of International Education will be happy to help you if you have questions or concerns in this regard.
