Student Orientation | Accepted International Students
Carroll University's International Student Orientation (ISO) is for all incoming Carroll University international students including Undergraduate, Graduate, Intensive English Language Program, CU International Semester and Exchange students. ISO is designed to provide the best possible transition to Carroll for incoming international students from all over the world. Incoming students will be introduced to OIE staff, current Carroll students – both international and domestic – as well as Carroll faculty and staff from various departments and offices. Time is also scheduled to help students purchase necessities not brought from home and to explore our Waukesha and Milwaukee communities.
ISO Topics include:
- Academic Life on a U.S. Campus
- U.S. Interpersonal Culture and Culture Shock
- U.S. Health Insurance and Health Care
- Carroll University Campus Services
- Maintaining your Immigration Status
- Public Safety
- Meal Plans and Your Carroll University ID Card
International students will also have an International Orientation Mentor to help them through the first few weeks on campus and answer questions, student-to-student.
In the Fall semester, Carroll University's International Student Orientation is combined with Carroll's New Student Orientation (NSO) and Welcome Week activities. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of meals and activities and get to know new and returning Carroll University students.
Past activities have included:
- Life-Sized Games
- Live Bands
Apart from International Student Orientation (ISO), students who begin their studies in the Spring semester at Carroll will also have the opportunity to participate in activities coordinated by Student Affairs designed to welcome students back to school in January the first week of classes. Like the activities conducted during Orientation Week in the Fall semester, these are great opportunities for new students to make new friends and develop meaningful connections with other students on campus.
Please note that while the International Student Orientation is required for all students on F-1 visas, it is open to all students who consider themselves international. OIE recognizes that Carroll is fortunate to welcome international students every year who are U.S. permanent residents, who have grown up outside of the U.S., or who should otherwise be included in our ISO activities. If this sounds like you, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that Carroll University's International Student Orientaiton does carry a mandatory fee. The current fee is $120 and covers all meals, transportation, and early housing costs. We would love to include you in ISO and all other activities!
International Student Orientation for the students beginning their studies at Carroll for the Spring 2017 semester will take place on Monday, January 23. Students must make sure they arrive on campus on Sunday, January 22 and are available to participate in ISO the following day.
Check back for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 International Student Orientation Dates.
All confirmed students will be sent additional orientation details by email.
