Areas of Specialization:
McCarthy's primary interest and expertise reside in the field of exercise physiology and more specifically in resistance exercise training since this intervention plays such a vital role in enhancing human functional performance, rehabilitation, and the prevention and treatment of many chronic diseases and disorders. He maintains expertise and interest in advanced therapeutic exercise, orthopedic and sports physical therapy, strength and muscle performance, aging and exercise, weight control and exercise, and energy expenditure and metabolism.
