Biography:
I joined the Carroll faculty in 1985. Before that, I worked at the Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center in Milwaukee, where I focused on inpatient psychiatry and substance abuse treatment, completing a dissertation that examined the effects of depression on perceptions of self-harm in alcoholics.

As an adjunct instructor for Carroll and the University of Wisconsin, I taught undergraduate courses in psychology. More recently, as assistant professor of health sciences at Carroll, I have specialized in applied psychology, including psychological testing and assessment, abnormal psychology and health psychology. My areas of academic interest include anxiety management, grief work, and midlife developmental issues. I have created workshops to teach anxiety management skills to Carroll students, and have ongoing research on the efficacy of various treatment strategies for test anxiety management.

I have presented at regional, national and international conferences on topics related to interventions for test anxiety, and generativity and life satisfaction in midlife women. I have a recent publication on life satisfaction and parenting style in midlife mothers, and two manuscripts under review. I also am collaborating on the development of graduate-level skills training in mental health interventions for medical professionals.
