Michael and Mary Jaharis Science Laboratories

Carroll University's Michael and Mary Jaharis Science Laboratories is a project ingrained with the pioneering spirit of Wisconsin's first institution of higher education. It embodies one of our top priorities, and a key element of the university's strategic plan, to "improve academic quality and strengthen the core educational experience for students."

The $24 million, nearly 44,000-square-foot facility welcomed its first class of students in fall of 2016. The building was the initial phase of a three-phase project and combines state-of-the-art teaching laboratories, research spaces and instrumentation rooms. It will transform the educational experience of every Carroll student, especially those students pursuing an education in the health and medical science fields.

The facility is the first new academic building to be constructed on campus in more than 50 years and the university's only all gift and grant funded structure. The main gift was a donation from the late Michael Jaharis, his wife Mary and the Jaharis Family Foundation. Jaharis, a 1950 graduate of Carroll passed away at his home in New York City in February 2016 at the age of 87. It was the largest gift received in school history.

Carroll University: A Leader in the Sciences

Our new, state-of-the-art building will benefit all students who attend Carroll, and in particular, the nearly two-thirds of Carroll students who major in the sciences. The university is especially strong in the health and medical science fields and has experienced unprecedented demand for programs in the fields of nursing, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, public health, psychology and exercise science/physiology.
