What is your teaching style?
I aim to provide student-centered learning that incorporates active, experiential learning strategies and clinical relevance in an environment that is safe and respectful. I am open and approachable, a partner with students in the learning journey. I also humbly aim to be a student myself, learning from practice and feedback on how to improve my teaching skills.
Why do you do what you do?
I chose to become a physical therapist because of a deep desire to serve others, and I now approach teaching with that same heart for service. Throughout my career, I have been challenged, engaged, and deeply honored to play a role in patients’ healing journeys and collaborate with other healthcare providers to improve patients' quality of life. Teaching allows me the privilege of contributing to the growth of future clinicians—guiding them as they develop knowledge, critical thinking, and hands-on skills to become compassionate and competent healers in their communities.
How do you make learning engaging?
I focus on helping students understand the “why” behind the content by consistently connecting it to clinical relevance. I incorporate a variety of active learning strategies—such as case-based scenarios, interactive games, small group work, and flipped classroom activities—to create a dynamic and enjoyable learning environment that promotes deeper understanding and student engagement.
What should students know about you?
The most important aspect of my life is my faith in God, which shapes who I am both personally and professionally. I’m happily married to my husband, Clint, and we have two wonderful children, Hayden and Ruth. I love spending time with family and friends, especially outdoors—running, biking, and hiking are some of my favorite activities. I also enjoy reading and am always eager to dive into a good book.
