International Education Week and National Career Development Week represent the synergy between academic growth and career development. This week is a chance for students, educators and professionals to reflect on the importance of global perspectives and cultural competencies in their journeys toward achieving their career goals.

Kaitlyn Pfeiffer, a junior majoring in healthcare administration with a pre-physical therapy focus, recounts the profound impact of her summer journey to Marburg, Germany. As an aspiring neurologic physical therapist, Kaitlyn developed essential communication, equity, inclusion and critical thinking skills during her study abroad experience.

As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, such experiences become indispensable in preparing students for diverse and competitive career paths. During International Education Week and National Career Development Week, let’s celebrate Carroll’s commitment to nurturing global citizens equipped to thrive in an ever-evolving professional landscape.

While in Granada, Spain, Cynthia Soto-Chavez acquired vital competencies necessary for her future career as an athletic trainer (AT). Her experience abroad significantly honed her critical thinking, adaptability and resourcefulness. Leveraging her fluency in Spanish, Cynthia not only cultivated deeper connections with locals but strengthened her communication and leadership skills as a bilingual professional.

Additionally, her immersion allowed her to navigate a different culture while challenging stereotypes which fostered a profound appreciation for diverse backgrounds.
