The therapeutic recreation emphasis expands on the ideas discussed in general sports and recreation administration courses and examines how they can be applied to recreational activities that help improve the lives of those with disabilities. You’ll better understand how to work with individuals who have physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual limits.
The therapeutic recreation emphasis courses are conducted in a collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in a flexible and accessible online format. Completing this emphasis helps you meet one portion of the required coursework for credentials as a certified therapeutic recreation specialist with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. Additional requirements are needed to fully qualify for the credential:
