Majors: Sociology and Spanish

What made you choose this major?

I’m passionate about the environment and I’m very passionate about people. This seemed like the perfect major to bring both of my interests together and learn how they relate to each other.

How has what you’ve learned prepared you for your future?

My last four years at Carroll have been nothing but a learning experience. The environment and how it relates and affects people, and vice versa, is something I will face in any job situation. Being a sustainable company, business, school, etc., is something that is a hot topic right now.

What opportunities have you had to work closely with a faculty member and what impact has that had on your education?

Yes! I love the small class sizes. It gives each student the opportunity to get to know their classmates and their professor. Having the professor actually know you by name, and is willing to talk with you on a one-on-one basis in and outside of the classroom, is something you cannot pass up.

How has Carroll enriched your growth as a person outside of the skills you’re learning in the classroom?

I was involved in Carroll’s acapella group, PIOnissimo, and was able to continue my love for music and singing in that. I was also an orientation mentor for three years, and that opened my eyes and introduced me to Student Affairs in general, which is now the graduate degree that I am pursuing after I graduate this May. There are so many different organizations, jobs and volunteer opportunities you can be involved in outside of your field of study, to continue and find new passions.

Why did you choose to attend Carroll University?

One of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I have met so many people, given so many opportunities, majored in two of my favorite interests, had many different job opportunities within and outside of Carroll and am forever a part of the Pioneer family.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I couldn’t thank Carroll University, and all the people I have met along the way, enough for the amazing opportunity and experience it was to attend.
