What is your teaching style?

My teaching style focuses on providing students with the means to think critically by encouraging an environment of inquiry. I provide guidance as they form connections between course content and the clinical setting. By fostering critical thinking and problem solving skills, students are prepared to transition into the role of the registered nurse, and build a foundation for a career of lifelong learning.

Why do you do what you do?

I pride myself in providing comprehensive, compassionate care as a clinician. A large part of this includes actively seeking opportunities for quality improvement. My desire to apply evidence-based approaches to improving care ultimately led me to advancing my degree and discovering my passion for teaching. I hope to lay the groundwork for future nurses to continue to improve care by seeking answers through evidence-based practice and providing compassionate, holistic care.

How do you make learning engaging?

I like to engage students by focusing not only on what they need to know, but also why. Preparing nurses to provide competent, holistic care in a constantly changing environment requires that they have a good understanding of why we do things the way we do. I believe this also instills a desire to question practices, which lays the groundwork for future quality improvement.

What should students know about you?

I am excited to help you reach your goals!
