2016 P.E. Macallister Distinguished Alumnus Award for Service to Carroll

Blane Dexheimer '86 prefers to let others shine while he quietly and consistently contributes his time and talent to make Carroll a better place. His service to the university, volunteerism in the community on behalf of Carroll, and care for students all comes without wanted fanfare or accolades.

He became active with his alma mater just a few short years after his graduation in 1986, when he received a bachelor's degree in business administration and economics. His support began when he helped with fundraising and alumni outreach as a class agent from 1992-1997. That service continued from 2002-2011 when he became a member on Carroll's Alumni Council, moving later into a position as its chair.

Dexheimer served as chair of the council for three years at the end of his tenure, when he also served as a representative to Carroll's Board of Trustees. Under his leadership, Carroll became more involved with community-based projects, such as the annual National Service Project and the Pioneers Serve Carroll Volunteer Day, formerly known as Day of Caring, to further engage alumni and students. He actively engaged with these and other projects in his role as chair, volunteering at multiple alumni events as well as campus events, including his commencement speech to the Class of 2010.

More recently, Dexheimer, along with his classmate, Tim Hando '86, headed the successful campaign and formation of the Class of 1986/Future Leaders Endowed Scholarship Fund. Together they were the catalyst of their 25th class reunion in 2011, helping to drive participation and encourage giving among their classmates. They continue to annually promote and encourage their peers to give back and make investments for future Pioneers.

He has also been key in helping connect alumni through his workplace. Dexheimer currently is director of corporate bonds with Northwestern Mutual Investment Management Corp. For the past three years, he has assisted with personal outreach to fellow Northwestern Mutual employees who also graduated from Carroll to help connect them to each other and Carroll via organized alumni events. Northwestern Mutual has one of the largest concentrations of Carroll alumni with over 90 individuals who have this special dual affinity.

He now has more than 25 years of experience in the financial and investment services banking industry. He began his career in banking at Marshall & Ilsley Corporation in Milwaukee as an analyst.

Dexheimer and his wife Amy have two children, Ryan and Rachel. He continually and generously goes above and beyond to engage alumni and friends to be involved as well as to support Carroll.
